Stewards, Not Fearmongers!

Ecclesiastes paints kind of a depressing picture of humanity and an individual’s moroseness, however, it also teaches us a lot about ourselves, the world around us, and our God. In his musings the writer states that “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9 NIV84) The Bible Knowledge commentary states that “Solomon did not intend by this to deny human creativity but to deny the complete newness of people’s accomplishments.” However, “the constant repetition of previous accomplishments – is in essence true of the activity of people and is included in the observation that all things produce only indescribable weariness and lack of satisfaction…” Solomon was in a mental funk. I can relate. In this day and age, it is easy to become depressed.

Sadly, there are those who use people’s tendency to be depressed to foster greater fear in things they absolutely have no control over whatsoever. One such thing is climate change. Instead of looking at actual scientific facts, observable evidence, and what is known to be true, many use emotional blackmail and fear mongering instead it illicit a gut-wrenching response instead. And if you do not agree with their emotional dictate, they shout you down, call you names, or dismiss you.

Let’s look rationally at the notion that we as individuals could somehow affect change in the worldwide climate. We cannot ignore the fact that the earth “has a surface area of roughly 510,066,000 square km (196,938,000 square miles); almost 71 percent of Earth’s surface is covered by saltwater oceans. The total volume of liquid water on Earth is about 1.39 billion cubic km (332.5 million cubic miles), and it has an average temperature of about 4 °C (39.2 °F), not far above the freezing point of water. The oceans contain about 97 percent of the planet’s water volume. The remainder occurs as fresh water, three-quarters of which is locked up in the form of ice at polar latitudes. Most of the remaining fresh water is groundwater held in soils and rocks; less than 1 percent of it occurs in lakes and rivers.” (Britannica.com) The planet made be small comparative to other planets, but it relatively huge compared to individual humans. Did you notice anything concerning ice at the poles and say the volume of sea water? How much do you actually think the total melting of the polar ice caps could influence the entire surface of the ocean? Minimal at best, and if let’s just say they did all of a sudden melt, people would get up and move to higher ground, which would be only a couple of feet. By the way, this is exactly what tribes from Siberia did to become America’s native population; they walked across a land bridge to get here.

According to NASA the “The troposphere starts at the Earth’s surface and extends 8 to 14.5 kilometers high (5 to 9 miles). This part of the atmosphere is the most dense. Almost all weather is in this region.” This is where our breathable air occurs. This area is approximately 3,849,298,671,554.7627397183 cubic feet in size! It is enormous in volume and carbon dioxide makes up less than .04 of the total volume. And when you are talking about climate change, you are working with hundreds of thousands to millionths of minute amounts of change. If you wanted to make any significant change to atmospheric conditions you would go to nations like China, India, or the Philippines, not the United States or Europe. Those nations have billions in populations compared to the rest that have millions, and they use vast amounts of coal, wood, and petroleum products compared to the rest of the world.

Should we be good stewards of the world God created for us? Absolutely! Do we need to live in fear? Absolutely not. Remember that the earth is the Lord’s and so are we. We can use our God-given knowledge, talents, and treasure to solve our energy problems without resorting to fearmongering. Solomon concluded: “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NIV84)

Correlation Not Causation!

Correlation Not Causation!
By Lee Hemen
April 30, 2017
It amazes me that the same dupes who totally swallow what is causing climate change and are angered if anyone dares disagree with them are ready, willing, and able to swallow a study that does not prove what they think it does concerning diet drinks.
Recently there was a study done concerning diet sodas. What you may not know is the entire facts concerning the study. When it first came out and all the networks were repeating the same thing I told my wife “something does not smell right concerning this” and I was correct. The news came out that artificially sweetened beverages may be linked to an increased risk of stroke and dementia, according to a recent study by the American Heart Association’s peer-reviewed journal Stroke. The researchers looked at 2,888 people over the age of 45 (with a median age of 62) for stroke risks and 1,484 people over the age of 60 (with a median age of 69) for risk of dementia. After adjustments were made for age, sex, education, caloric intake, diet, exercise, and smoking, they found that diet soda drinks “were associated with an increased risk of ischemic stroke, all-cause dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease dementia.” (The study cites correlation rather than causation.) And this is the key phrase that every worried nanny missed: “correlation rather than causation”. What this means is that in the groups, which by the way were age specific, the studies for these groups are made up of people who would be over weight, old, and already have these problems and were drinking diet sodas or diet drinks in order to help with the problems they already have!
Unless you have forgotten there were several other recent studies that linked diet soda and cardiovascular disease and showed a correlation (if not a causation) between cancer and aspartame. However what they did not tell you is that a person would have to consume enormous quantities and would probably drown first! The beverage industry says people who are overweight and already at risk for heart disease may consume more diet drinks in an attempt to control their weight and the Food and Drug Administration has ruled that artificial sweeteners are safe. And guess what? They’ve also determined that drinking too much water is unhealthy as well! Go figure.
There has been found no direct link to diet drinks, dementia, and or Alzheimer’s disease just that people who are already at risk for these diseases drink diet drinks. That’s’ correlation and not causation.

Gaslighting: Liberalism’s way to control the masses!

Gaslighting: Liberalism’s way to control the masses!
By Lee Hemen
May 17, 2016

Back in 1938, there was a play called “Gas Light” that was later adapted into a movie in 1944. In the story, a husband works diligently to convince his wife and their acquaintances that she is insane by making very small and subtle changes to their environment. When the wife would point out the changes, the husband convinced her that she was wrong about the changes and that she was crazy. Slowly but surely, the wife starts to give in to the self-doubt created by those subtle changes, namely a gas lamp that the husband keeps dimming, hence the term “gaslighting”.

This form of mental manipulation has not gone away and in fact is part and parcel of how liberalism works. Liberals love to slowly change one’s reality and then hit you with the clincher that you are the one who is out of step, stupid, or phobic in some way. This is in fact how liberals have kept certain ethnic groups and others under their spell for decades; they have told them over and over that they cannot survive without their brand of progressive thinking. Those evil others will take away all we have gained for you; which turns out is societal slavery in the form of governmental giveaways. One becomes addicted to the handouts and begins to think they cannot do it on their own. When I was younger we used to call it “blowing smoke”.

From climate change to racial and gender conflicts liberals continue their process of gaslighting the unthinking masses. Logical arguments are seen as Neanderthal and you are encouraged to emote instead. “I feel your pain,” is enough to get the unsuspecting dupes to gush in emotional rapture. But what is occurring is the slow twisting and subtle changes in society and culture as a whole. When all constraint is finally done away with those who have wrested control will use any form to keep the masses in line; from coercion, drugs, or propaganda. Males, who act, well male, are controlled through drugs at an early age and are told over and over they have to conform; society’s norms are pushed further and further into perversion; and religion becomes the enemy. Why do you think marijuana is now seen as sheik, sexual identity is the new norm, and the new political peons are illegals? Those who control the gaslight do not care about the individual only their power to control the lighting and thereby control you.

Recently when a group of millennials were asked what the definition of male and female was, few would or could give a rational answer. Many answered with a form of garbled political correctness that had no basis in reality whatsoever. In fact when one intellectually gaslighted woman was asked how she knew if the person she wanted to date was male or female, she stammered and could not utter a rational answer. She is the product of liberal gaslighting.
