The Answer for Your Nation’s Future

The Answer for Your Nation’s Future
By Pastor Lee Hemen
November 11, 2016

I know that some of you have encouraged caution and understanding toward those who are mentally unraveled because of Trump’s win, but to be honest it is getting harder and harder to do as each day pass and when another liberal screed is shoved at us from the liberal elites.

I was reminded by a very thoughtful personal friend that the rioting of the Vietnam era actually solidified moderates, independents, and conservatives to vote for Nixon and later Reagan. The riots today are actually doing the very same thing. Already several folk I know who voted for Sanders or Hillary are now completely dismayed at what they are hearing and seeing. One commented that she was now glad Trump won and hoped only the best for him and the Nation. When I asked her why the change she remarked “Look at those who are now rioting or sending hateful messages; that’s not me nor does it represent who I am. I am appalled.”

While I understand someone’s depression when their candidate lost, I do not understand their vitriol, contempt, or hatred. You would not have seen the same actions from those of us who voted for Trump if he lost. You did not see it from us when Obama won twice. Yes we wrote about his inability to lead, but we never encouraged violence, hatred, or murdering him. Now I am not talking about the ultra-conservative lunatic fringe. And what we are seeing now from the left is too often tacitly condoned by the media and others.

Actress Lea DeLaria found herself in hot water after she wrote on Instagram that she wanted to “take out” Republicans and Independents with a baseball bat. Only she used vulgarities that I will not include in this post. Others have done the same thing and many going so far as to ask that someone shoot Trump with a sniper rifle.

Fashion designer Andrew Warren has had to come to the defense of his longtime friend Tiffany Trump following a barrage of hateful posts and death threats against her and her family. And he has had to suffer vulgar hate-filled messages from his friendship with her.

The CEO of Grubhub, an online food delivery service, sent a company-wide email strongly suggesting employees who agree with President-elect Donald Trump’s behaviors and his campaign rhetoric should resign. It was a worded threat to those who voted for Trump.

Perhaps one of the best responses was by Jennifer Lawrence and while I totally disagree with her political views I believe what she wrote should be embraced by those who are struggling. The actress responded to President-elect Donald Trump’s victory, in an essay posted Thursday morning that she wrote for Broadly, Vice’s women’s interest channel. She wrote that “I want to be positive; I want to support our democracy, but what can we take away from this? It’s a genuine question that we all need to ask ourselves,” writes the Oscar-winning actress. “We shouldn’t blame anyone, we shouldn’t riot in the streets. We should think strongly and clearly about what to do next because we cannot change the past.” And concluded her remarks by writing “Do not let this defeat you — let this enrage you! Let it motivate you!” Lawrence added. “Let this be the fire you didn’t have before. If you are an immigrant, if you are a person of color, if you are LGBTQ+, if you are a woman — don’t be afraid, be loud!”

What Ms Lawrence is encouraging is exactly what those who voted for Trump went door-to-door for him and what they did to get him elected. Many Americans, me included, are not totally overjoyed at Trump being President but we could not stand by and let the same old thing happen again and have a completely corrupt individual who disdains her own Nation’s security be President.

Just remember as there is zany and unrealistic rhetoric to succeed from the Union, violent riots, and vulgar Facebook posts and Tweets you can throw the bum out in four years! Do what you encouraged us in middle class America to do the past eight long and frustrating years: Pray for your Nation, your leaders, and yes the President, because whether you want to believe it or not we did.

As believers we are to show compassion and encouragement to those around us, and we are to pray for the lost and our Nation.

Just Wondering…

I was just wondering, how do we elect someone? I mean the one who loved us an awful lot has elected us, those he called he chose. But what about you, aren’t you free to decide? Of course you are because you do not know the outcome, only the one who truly counts life’s ballots does. But in our freedom to choose shouldn’t we cast our ballot now before the final count is done? There are no hanging chads in heaven, rides to the polling booth, or free pizza. Perhaps you should mark your ballot now. Makes one wonder…

Welcome Back, Carter… Ummm… Obama

Welcome Back, Carter
by Ann Coulter

Well, I’m glad that’s over! Now that our silver-tongued president has gone to Cairo to soothe Muslims’ hurt feelings, they love us again! Muslims in Pakistan expressed their appreciation for President Barack Obama’s speech by bombing a fancy hotel in Peshawar this week.

Operating on the liberal premise that what Arabs really respect is weakness, Obama listed, incorrectly, Muslims’ historical contributions to mankind, such as algebra (actually that was the ancient Babylonians), the compass (that was the Chinese), pens (the Chinese again) and medical discoveries (huh?).

But why be picky? All these inventions came in mighty handy on Sept. 11, 2001! Thanks, Muslims!!

Obama bravely told the Cairo audience that 9/11 was a very nasty thing for Muslims to do to us, but on the other hand, they are victims of colonization.

Except we didn’t colonize them. The French and the British did. So why are Arabs flying planes into our buildings and not the Arc de Triomphe? (And gosh, haven’t the Arabs done a lot with the Middle East since the French and the British left!)

In another sharks-to-kittens comparison, Obama said, “Now let me be clear, issues of women’s equality are by no means simply an issue for Islam.” No, he said, “the struggle for women’s equality continues in many aspects of American life.”

So on one hand, 12-year-old girls are stoned to death for the crime of being raped in Muslim countries. But on the other hand, we still don’t have enough female firefighters here in America.

Delusionally, Obama bragged about his multiculti worldview, saying, “I reject the view of some in the West that a woman who chooses to cover her hair is somehow less equal.” In Saudi Arabia, Iran, Afghanistan and other Muslim countries, women “choose” to cover their heads on pain of losing them.

Obama rolled out the crucial liberal talking point against America’s invasion of Iraq, saying Iraq was a “war of convenience,” while Afghanistan was a “war of necessity.” Liberals cling to this nonsense doggerel as a shield against their hypocrisy on Iraq. Either both wars were wars of necessity or both wars were wars of choice.

Neither Iraq nor Afghanistan — nor any country — attacked us on 9/11. Both Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as many other Muslim countries, were sheltering those associated with the terrorists who did attack us on 9/11 — and who hoped to attack us again.

The truth is, all wars are wars of choice, including the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, both World Wars, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the Gulf War, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. OK, maybe the war on teen obesity is a war of convenience, but that’s the only one I can think of.

The modern Democrat Party chooses — really chooses, not like Saudi women “choosing” to wear hijabs — to fight no wars. But the Democrats couldn’t say that immediately after 9/11, so they pretended to support the war in Afghanistan and then had to spend the next 7 1/2 years trying to come up with a distinction between Afghanistan and Iraq.

Maybe next they can tell us why fighting Hitler — who never invaded the U.S. and had no plans to do so — was a “necessity” in a way that fighting Saddam wasn’t. (Obama on Hitler: “Nazi ideology sought to subjugate, humiliate and exterminate. It perpetrated murder on a massive scale.” Whereas Saddam Hussein was just messing with the Kuwaitis, Kurds and Shiites.)

Meanwhile, Muslims throughout the Middle East are yearning for their own Saddam Husseins to be taken out by U.S. invaders so they can be liberated, too. (Then we’ll see how many women — outside of an American college campus — “choose” to wear hijabs.) The war-of-choice/war-of-necessity point must be as mystifying to a Muslim audience as a discussion of gay marriage.

Arabs aren’t afraid of us; they’re afraid of Iran. But our aspiring Jimmy Carter had no tough words for Iran. To the contrary, in Cairo, Obama endorsed Iran’s quest for nuclear “power,” while attacking — brace yourself — America for helping remove Iranian loon Mohammad Mossadegh.

The CIA’s taking out Mossadegh was probably the greatest thing that agency ever did. This was back in 1953, before it became a collection of lawyers and paper-pushers.

Mossadegh was as crazy as a March hare (which is really saying something when your competition is Moammar Gadhafi, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and Saddam Hussein). He gave interviews lying in bed in pink pajamas. He wept, he fainted, and he set his nation on a path of permanent impoverishment by “nationalizing” the oil wells, where they sat idle after the British companies that knew how to operate them pulled out.

But he was earthy and hated the British, so left-wing academics adored Mossadegh. The New York Times compared him to Thomas Jefferson.

True, Mossadegh had been “elected” by the Iranian parliament — but only in the chaos following the assassination of the sitting prime minister.

In short order, the shah dismissed this clown, but Mossadegh refused to step down, so the CIA forcibly removed him and allowed the shah’s choice to assume the office. This “coup,” as liberal academics term it, was approved by liberals’ favorite Republican president, Dwight Eisenhower, and supported by such ponderous liberal blowhards as John Foster Dulles.

For Obama to be apologizing for one of the CIA’s greatest accomplishments isn’t just crazy, it’s Ramsey Clark crazy.

Obama also said that it was unfair that “some countries have weapons that others do not” and proclaimed that “any nation — including Iran — should have the right to access peaceful nuclear power if it complies with its responsibilities under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.”

Wait — how about us? If a fanatical holocaust denier with messianic delusions can have nuclear power, can’t the U.S. at least build one nuclear power plant every 30 years?

I’m sure Iran’s compliance will be policed as well as North Korea’s was. Clinton struck a much-heralded “peace deal” with North Korea in 1994, giving them $4 billion to construct nuclear facilities and 500,000 tons of fuel oil in return for a promise that they wouldn’t build nuclear weapons. The ink wasn’t dry before the North Koreans began feverishly building nukes.

But back to Iran, what precisely do Iranians need nuclear power for, again? They’re not exactly a manufacturing powerhouse. Iran is a primitive nation in the middle of a desert that happens to sit on top of a large percentage of the world’s oil and gas reserves. That’s not enough oil and gas to run household fans?

Obama’s “I’m OK, You’re OK” speech would be hilarious, if it weren’t so terrifying.

A Martyr for the Lord – Today’s Thoughts…

A Martyr for the Lord – Today’s Thoughts…
By Pastor Lee Hemen
November 12, 2008

Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men. (Titus 3:1-2)

During an administration that one does not truly believe in, it is sometimes difficult as Christians to be what God would have us be. But we are called to be his people no matter who is President. Paul was telling Titus that it was his job as their spiritual leader to “remind” them “to be subject to the rulers and authorities” over them. The idea here is to suggest that the followers of Christ were to be examples even to those who were their local leaders. So, does that let the rest of us off the hook as far as President is concerned? No. We are first and foremost to be obedient to Christ who is our Chief Shepherd no matter who is our Commander and Chief here in America. The idea here of “obedience” is being subject to, and we are all subject to the laws of the land whether we like them or not. However, we are never to acquiesce our faith to obedience to the government. In fact, this is where we get our word “martyr” from. It literally means “witness,” and many early Christians were “martus,” witnesses unto death and therefore word became synonymous with Christians dying for their faith.

While few of us may be unwilling to die for our faith, we are called “to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.” This does not mean we can never disagree, stand up for our own faith, or be the witnesses we are supposed to be for the Lord. However, our public disenchantment with the government is to also reflect the Lord. We are to exemplify him in all we do, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17)

This means we can criticize and disagree with the ungodliness that we see reflected within the government, especially by those in leadership who claim to be followers of Christ but prove otherwise by their leadership and actions. Yet we are to do it as a Christian, reflecting our true leader, the Lord and not a mere human being that we have elected. In fact, to give anyone in earthly leadership the same adulation that is supposed to be reserved for God alone is blaspheme and ungodly in the extreme.

So, dear child of the Lord, today if you are unhappy or even if you are excited about what occurred this past election cycle, you are called to Christ first and foremost. Never forget that. So as this Administration begins to lead the people of this land, we as believers are to still reflect the Lord in all we do showing everyone whom we truly follow.

Unconscionable Liars and Morally Reprehensible Politicians

Unconscionable Liars and Morally Reprehensible Politicians
By Lee Hemen
October 17, 2008

Democrats and especially those the likes of a Barack Obama or a Joe Biden leave me wondering if the American public has lost their ability to think. I am awed by their boldness in relating lies and spinning them into a web of personal truth. I guess I am still naive enough to think that politicians should not lie to those whose votes they want. But these two men have turned the lack of truth telling into an art form. Words mean things. These men have shown the American public exactly what it means to say one thing and do, live, or believe another. As my Daddy used to say, “If their lips are moving, they are lying.” And this is the fact of both Biden and Obama.

Obama is a quintessential lie machine. He stoically looks into the camera and lies about his relationship to a extremely radical and racist pastor of 20 years. It almost takes one’s breath away at the audaciousness of its turbidity. How can anyone in good conscience say they sat in worship with, was married by, and was spiritually mentored by someone who is so racist and extreme but never realized the man’s views? This goes beyond credibility! Is Obama that dense or is he lying to us? I suspect the latter. If he is that dense Obama should not be trusted to be dogcatcher, let alone the President of the United States of America!

Obama lies about his view of abortion, which is the most extreme and grotesque of any Democrat in Congress. If his views of the taking of human life and the wanton use of abortion were printed in Nazi journals from World War II people would be shocked, ill at ease, and made queasy. From his own past words from the floor of the Illinois Senate and his own campaign rhetoric Obama has relentlessly related that he sees a baby, at any stage of development, including live birth, as a “punishment” and should be able to be killed at the whim of the mother. This is shocking to me since this is the ultimate civil rights issue. Those who are totally innocent and  unable to speak for themselves are being slaughtered in the name of “pro-choice.” What choice does the truly innocent unborn or born victim here have?

Obama lies about past relationships that he has eloquently bragged about in his autobiographies. Bomb toting, cop-killing, radical Marxist/Leninist extremist organizers that he served on community boards with, endorsed their radical writings, and launched his own political career in their home! Obama’s own community organizing skills were used by such voter fraud groups as ACORN to train people on how best to intimidate gangster-style and gain access politically for their radical ideals.

Obama’s lying even extends to his unwillingness to release his actual birth certificate, college records, and college writings so they can be read. Why? His own Kenyan grandmother admitted she watched him being born in Kenya and that he was later taken to Hawaii. This is so fundamental and innocuous as to be ridiculous, but Obama fights any attempt to allow it to happen. We have known every little supposedly dirty detail of every candidate’s life, including every distortion concerning Sarah Palin’s life, but we dare not ask to see Obama’s college records, writings, and his birth certificate? It should make one wonder what in the world is Barack Hussein Obama hiding that he is so desperate not to have them released at any cost? Several lawsuits have been filed by the Obama organization to keep these records sealed. Others are trying to get them freed under campaign laws, the Freedom of Information Act, and by Federal lawsuits. If Obama is an American citizen, wouldn’t he want to prove it beyond any reasonable doubt instead of fighting it so vigorously? Most lawyers and thesis candidates are eager for anyone to read their mind-numbing deductions, it is usually the only opportunity for a captive audience to be used, but not Obama. Doesn’t any politician you know want their views and writings read? Perhaps not Biden, who loves to take credit for other people’s lives, but should not someone as articulate and well-versed as Obama is supposed to be want to?

Why does Obama lie about who supports him? On Obama’s own web site we find “self-proclaimed Marxists/Communists/Socialists for the election of Barack Obama to the Presidency.” They relate that “By no means is he a true Marxist, but under Karl Marx’s writings we are to support the party with the best interests of the mobilization of the proletariat.” (Isn’t that comforting?) For them, this election year it is “Barack Obama because his views and past record support their views.” The Communist Party USA’s newspaper is defending Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama against potential defectors on the left, saying his candidacy represents a “broad multi-class, multicultural movement.” Why would these groups go to such lengths when in the past they have never supported a national candidate from either major party, only their own candidates? The Young Communist League is also actively involved in all major cities and college campuses handing out Obama fliers, buttons, and campaign literature. Nicaraguan leader Daniel Ortega, the head of the Marxist Sandinista Liberation Front, says “Obama’s presidential bid is a ‘revolutionary’ phenomenon in the United States because he will bring great change that will offer justice and equality toward all. In other words, socialism and a redistribution of wealth.” Yet, Obama says that to bring this up is smear tactics. Why?

Did you know that all major Islamic groups in America are supporting Obama? In fact, they have related over and over again that they see him as “one of our own.” Muslims around the world see Obama as “Muslim.” And did you know that Obama has received contributions from Islamic groups around the world? Some of the funds were returned, but not all. And there is strong evidence showing that there are severe legal questions concerning campaign contributions to Obama. Obama has received questionable funds from sources that his campaign refuses to release where they come from, and many are suspected to be from foreign contributors which are illegal under American election laws. Now, least you think that I believe Obama is a secret Islamist, I do not at all. However, I do believe that many Muslims do and Barack Hussein Obama has done little to quell their protracted view.

Contrary to what he would have you believe, Obama has not and did not sponsor any legislation in the few years he has served as a United States Senator. Yet, we are to believe he has the ability and intelligence to be President? Look into the Congressional Record or go Google it and you will discover that there is no legislation from Obama as a US Senator. None. However the little legislation that does exist from his Illinois days is rather extreme and liberal. I bet few who are voting for him realize the extent of his liberalism there and how he has earned the moniker from NARAL and other groups like this as the “most liberal Senator in the US Senate.”

I would imagine that few who see Obama and an agent for change know that in a bold-faced Chicago-style thug campaign tactics he manipulated his way into the Illinois Senate and did so with the US Senate as well. He is now trying the same strong armed underhanded rhetoric by simply lying until you believe what he says it true. If you lie loud and long enough, people will believe the lie is the truth. Right? Incredulously, Obama has even brazenly tried to tie his opponent John McCain to the Communist bomb bragging terrorist radical that is his own friend and mentor mentioned above!

But Obama’s running mate Joe Biden is not above obfuscating with the truth either.  Biden has lied about being shot down in a helicopter in Afghanistan that was really forced down due to snow and no one onboard was ever in danger at anytime. Except to listening to him for several hours while playing cards waiting for the storm to pass.

Biden cannot see himself for what he truly is. In his mind he has evidently built up this personification of himself. Why would I say that? Biden has lied about being an average Joe, when the very places he cites he has never visited! No one can ever remember seeing Biden buying two-by-fours at the local Home Depot, or eating at a diner in Delaware that has not been in business for years. I suppose Mr. “Plagiarism” Biden should be careful what stories he concocts to who and when. Biden still relates that the man involved in his wife and daughter’s fatal car accident was intoxicated when in fact the accident was due to severe weather conditions, and the other driver implicated was cleared of any wrong doing.

I am sorry if this offends some of your sensibilities out there, but Biden reminds me of the quintessential old-time Senator in the fancy suit, with the slicked-backed hair plugs, that comes into town, shakes hands, pats women on the “head,” kisses babies, smiles and “blowtificates.” (My word.) He has done this so much that he has adopted a plastic personification of what a Senator is supposed to be to the “little people” in fly-over land. He is genuine only to himself and what motivates him. He no longer can see the reality of America, but only a political view that has been promoted by his Party. There will be no change from his potentate vantage point.

I have to be honest and relate to you that while I am not overwhelmingly fond of John McCain, I do see his voting record has remained consistent in areas that concern me such as abortion and pork-barrel spending. It was also McCain who desperately tried to warn the Senate about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and how deregulating them would cause what it did. He even co-sponsored legislation to reform them, but Democrats like Biden and Obama voted against it and it was defeated. He has stood up against his own Republican Party when Republicans gained control of both houses and began to act like Democrats on a  drunken spending binge. McCain tried to reign in their pork-barrel politics, but was defeated by his own party. And, unlike Obama who has accepted questionable campaign funds, McCain has not and in fact tried to reform funding with his Campaign Finance Bill, which he may regret now. McCain may be a hothead and say things off the cuff, but one thing he is not and that is a liar.

Words mean things and for someone who wants to lead a nation to look into a camera and so easily lie and allow others to lie for them about his past, his beliefs, and his values is unconscionable and morally reprehensible. Obama and Biden are both in my book.

Barack Hussein Obama’s New Paradigm

By Lee Hemen
July 12, 2008

So Barack Hussein Obama is “embarrassed” that our children are not bi-lingual? He recently related that “It’s embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe and all we can say is merci beacoup, right?” What he fails to tell his mind-numbed audience is that most of the nations he listed have an “official” national language, except of course the United States. Which, by the way, he has voted against as a Senator. What is “embarrassing” is a newbie Senator thinking he knows what is best for my children. However, that is Barack Hussein Obama’s opinion of America in general: We are “children” to be molded into his new paradigm.

I find it interesting that all of sudden in order to be more palatable to more people in general and to do anything in order to win the election in November, Barack Hussein Obama now has done what all Democrats do during the summertime while swimming in the political pool: A John Kerry ten point dive. Belly flops are the norm and Barack Hussein Obama is not the exception, except wasn’t he supposed to be exceptional and well, different from all other politicians before him? His messianic swimsuit is slipping.

Dick Morris and Ellen McGann recently listed several areas where Barack Hussein Obama has hit the water with a big-belly splash:

“The list of issues on which Barack Obama has flipped now that the primaries are over is long and growing rapidly.

• He says he believes in a Second Amendment right to bear arms.

• He now opposes late-term abortion.

• He suddenly is a devotee of using faith-based institutions to deliver public services.

• He now says that he won’t raise Social Security taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year. In the primary, he said he’d eliminate the threshold entirely, including on people making as little as $100,000.

• He recently opposed the Fairness Doctrine for talk radio.

• Now he says he’s going to consult with the military before pulling out of Iraq.”

Wow! Not since John “I am a Vietnam Veteran” Kerry has the political water been hit so hard with such a resounding thud. But what is most surprising is Barack Hussein Obama’s silence as far as the oil crisis he and his Democratic minions have created. Hugh Hewitt got it right on when he wrote that “The economic mess the country confronts can be laid at the feet of Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. The Don’t Drill Democrats are forcing deindustrialization through depression brought about by soaring energy costs. This is a man-made meltdown, and make no mistake: The Democrats could halt and reverse the skyrocketing cost of oil, but they are choosing not to.” Why? Because they would rather have you suffer for their reelection than to actually solve the issue, which is in their power to do almost immediately. Thinking they will gain Brownie-points with uber-liberals, Bush Derangement Syndrome is alive and well within the Democratic ranks and Barack Hussein Obama has jumped on the election say anything that does not mean anything to get elected bandwagon.

Does this mean McCain is a resounding success in these areas? Sadly, no. His shuffle leaves us more than a little at odds with his utter compromising lameness. However, we must focus on who we can elect and that is a Congress that will not be so lame and anti-American. I agree with Hewitt when he writes: “Energy is freedom. Energy is prosperity. Every Democrat on the fall ballot is part of the anti-energy party which is wrecking havoc on the economy and every family’s budget. A vote for any Democrat is a vote for shortages, rising gas prices, rising unemployment, and falling production. A vote for any democrat is a vote for failing airlines and collapsing financial institutions and for the shuttering of car plants and large manufacturing…. A growing, vibrant economy needs energy. The Democrats are anti-energy.” They are also anti-American, believing in killing our unborn children, redefining marriage, open borders, multi-cultural claptrap, promoting promiscuity, endorsing political correctness, and environmental national sabotage. A vote for Barack Hussein Obama and his minions is a vote for the same old same old neo-communism. He is not an agent for “change,” but one for getting as much change from your pocket as possible for his political party’s brand of social engineering.

Whether American children are bi-lingual or not is not the issue, however, if you vote for Barack Hussein Obama and liberal Democrats in November your children may need to know Mexican-Spanish sooner than you think.

Remembering to Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing…

January 9, 2008
by PastorBlastor

Recently an online friend wrote me and asked the following:

“Just out of curiosity, who do you like? Personally, I can’t and won’t bring myself to vote for Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee, or, unfortunately, Ron Paul either. While I do really like Ron Paul’s consistent constitutional stand, I think he’s flat-out wrong on MANY issues (not the least of which is his position on the war). Nonetheless, at least he didn’t flip-flop and vote FOR it, then go back and try to say he never supported it. I guess when it comes down to it, I’ll go with my dad and say, ‘If there isn’t anyone on the ballot worth voting for, let’s go fishing!'”

I responded by relating to her the following:

“If you are a Christian you have to look at the politician that would best bring about a good society for everyone involved. They may not be ‘Christian’ or completely hold to Christian ideals, but you have to support those who would best protect our individual freedoms. I know many will say, “Well then you should vote for Mitt Romney, if he is the nominee.” However, there are times when a person must take a stand on his religion, and how that religion has made his character. Christians are not to openly support someone who proclaims a religion that claims Christ, but is a complete heresy and antithesis to who Jesus is and the Biblical message of the gospel.

While no politician is perfect, because we are sinners until we are saved by the grace of Jesus Christ, Christians have to live in the world and follow their faith the best they can. Including in how they vote. This election year, so far, has been more difficult simply because of Mitt Romney running. Like it or not, he has brought to the forefront why Christians are to be active in politics and are to vote their convictions as best they can.”

Folks, I have come to realize there are those who spend an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out just who God would want them to support as President. And while I do believe, if you are a Christian, you should pray and ask for guidance — do not get caught up in the arena of political secularism and use or blame God as a means to support your choice! Here is what I mean: Whoever is nominated or elected will be part of God’s perfect plan whether they want to be or not. Certainly believers should follow the dictates of their faith and try to vote for the best possible person they can. However, never forget that this is only temporary and there is no “perfect” candidate. If you are looking for one, you will be continually disappointed and will become frustrated. (Believe me I know.)

Until Christians can run a candidate that is truly “Christian” this will always be the case. Remember, people are imperfect at best. While I have problems with all of the candidates, I only know of one I will never support. The others I could vote for because they hold for us as a nation and as believers the ability to be heard and to be able to change people’s minds. One man will not change people’s hearts, only one man could and they crucified Him. Even our current President, who has been the closest man of Christian conviction we have had in the Oval Office in many years, could not bring about the change we all longed for. Why? We have three branches of government, not just one. And, whether we like it or not, we live in a secular society. If Christians want change then they need to get up off their behinds and begin to bring it about not through whom they vote for, but who they witness to. When was the last time you witnessed to the lost?

Lasting change will only occur when the Man of Change, Jesus Christ enters into the human heart. Perhaps we have forgotten that our greatest concern is not to be with who will be elected into office, but who is elected into the kingdom of God: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Even Jesus’ disciples got caught up in the secularism of the world around them and were excited about the power and prestige that came with healing people instead of what the main thing was. Jesus had to remind them, “However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” And isn’t that what we are to be most concerned about?

This week and from now until election time, I challenge you to witness to others about Jesus as much as you concern yourself with the election and you will find greater things to concern your heart. Instead of asking, “Who will I vote for?” why not ask “With whom do You Lord want me to share Jesus with today?”

Just a personal reminder to myself and others…
