Slaves and masters! – Ephesians 6:5-9

Slaves and masters! – Ephesians 6:5-9
By Pastor Lee Hemen
April 2, 2017

There are times when employees may feel they are slaves or just a cog in one big giant machine only good for what they can turn out for the “man” but to equate our boredom or nasty bosses to actual slavery is a bit much. Real slavery is no laughing matter and it still exists in many countries of the world today; most notably within those that are predominately Muslim or socialist. While slavery was the predominate thinking for much of the world’s history Christianity has played a huge role in ending this horrendous system of slaves and masters.

Jesus taught that God views all people equal and while Paul and others addressed slaves and masters they knew that God so loved the whole world and that Jesus came to save all mankind. Within those nations who were influenced by Christianity the ungodly system of slavery would eventually be done away with. We can find the seeds to its destruction in how Paul addresses the attitudes of slaves and masters here in Ephesians. Let’s take a look at what Paul wrote and how it should affect our lives today…

READ: Ephesians 6:5-9

So should people view Paul’s statements here in Ephesians as an endorsement of slavery? Absolutely not! Instead we can discover that what mattered most to Paul was how one conducted themselves as a believer. And here in this truth Christians can find that…

I. No matter their position in life believers are to consider themselves as servants of Christ! (Vv. 5-6)

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.

1. Slaves in Paul’s day had a harsh existence. They were property considered a thing that could be bought, sold, or destroyed at a whim. Yes, some slaves who served well could become part of a family and in fact receive the same rights and privileges as their masters if the master decided to give them their family’s name. In fact some slaves rose in rank and advantage even higher in society than their own masters! Yet we must look at the deeper truth Paul was trying to give his readers here. We must remember that both slave and master would hear his words. And so Paul began by telling them, “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart”. He knew that slavery was harsh but he also knew that people could serve outwardly yet harbor hatred toward those who are over them. So again he mentions “respect” (literally trembling) and “fear” and “sincerity (single-mindedness) of heart”. We forget in our day and age because we put a deeper emphasis on personal fulfillment rather than being called by God. Paul wrote the Roman church that “God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son… And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” (Romans 8:28-30 NIV) This is why Paul told slaves to obey their masters “just as you would obey Christ”. Paul was not endorsing slavery but rather teaching new believers how live their faith in difficult circumstances. They were to “Obey” their masters “not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.” This is a good truth for all Christians because no matter what their position in life is believers are to consider themselves as servants of Christ!

EXAMPLE: When my father had to leave for weeks and sometimes months in order to earn a living for our family he would remind us kids, “Mind your mother just as if I were here while I am gone.” We knew that no matter whether he was home or away we had to be obedient to our Mom just as if he were home. Slaves in Paul’s day could have seen their newfound faith and freedom in Christ as an excuse to be disobedient to either their believing or non-believing masters. But Paul reminds them that no matter their position in life believers are to consider themselves as servants of Christ!

Some folks see their job as something they have to do in order to pay the bills but this attitude can make your work drudgery for you. The same is true when one is saved by faith and called to serve the Lord. We can begin to see our service as drudgery; however Paul reminds us that…

II. No matter our position in life Christians are to serve enthusiastically! (Vv. 7-8)

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

1. Enthusiastically is a word that comes from several Greek words that literally mean “in God’s essence” and was originally used by the Greeks to describe manifestations of divine possession but was later used to describe the believer’s life in Christ. Paul writes that new believers were to “serve wholeheartedly” literally from their very beings that now had been changed by their faith in Jesus! In his letter to the Colossian church Paul would remind them to put off any evil in their lives by remembering to put “off your old self with its practices” and instead “put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” (Colossians 3:8-10) And remember he had just taught them that “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV) The reason for Paul was obvious because when the believer served their masters, bosses, parents or others this way it was as “if you were serving the Lord”! It is easy to go through the motions of just doing your job or your chores but when one does this it is only because they do it as if they were serving “men” and not Jesus. For the believer serving Jesus should never be a chore. The Christian’s attitude should be changed because of their faith in Jesus. We are to live our lives by a different set of values and attitudes because “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV) And we know “that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.” Paul is not enforcing a “works” mentality but rather reminding them that our final reward is different than what the world gives. The world rewards us by our status but God sees us as his new creation. No matter our position in life Christians are to serve enthusiastically!

EXAMPLE: One of the best pieces of advice my father imparted to me in the last days of his life had to do with how I did my work whether it was at school, home, or a job earning money. He related that I would probably do a lot of different things in life just as he had but in all those jobs he learned that if one wants to be successful in life you have to have the right attitude. He related, “Go to work, do your best, do more than what is expected of you, be honest and trustworthy and don’t get involved in gossip.” A believer’s motivation in life is not to be money, prestige, power, or position. Paul would say that no matter our position in life Christians are to serve enthusiastically!

We see that Paul’s view on how Christian slaves were to conduct themselves was radical. It was radical because of the change that occurred in the life of a believer when God comes to reside in them through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore those in charge who were saved were to be radically different as well. We discover that…

III. Christians in charge are not to be prejudice in any way! (v. 9)

And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

1. Equality between sexes, races, or ages is not found in baseless reparations, false apologies, or in making idiotic excuses. You cannot force someone to not be racist, xenophobic, or chauvinistic. Sure you can legislate, make laws, and try to teach social justice but that will never change the inner person who is evil in nature. Paul intrinsically understood this because he had experienced it himself. In fact he had been an evil “enforcer” for his mentors to try and stamp out the early Christian faith. In the Book of Acts we learn that while the followers of Jesus were preaching and teaching others about the love of God expressed in Jesus, Paul “was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.” (Acts 9:1-2 NIV) However Paul was changed “As he neared Damascus on his journey” when “suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.” (Acts 9:3) Paul would later say that Jesus “appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.” (1 Corinthians 15:8) and he would confess “For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them–yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” (1 Corinthians 15:9-10 NIV) Just as Paul had been changed he now says, “And masters, treat your slaves in the same way” as they had been treated by God. They were placed in charge for a reason just as they had come to faith for a reason and so they were told “Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.” Jesus saw both slave and master as the same. Paul would write, “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26-28 NIV) Christians in charge are not to be prejudice in any way!

EXAMPLE: Atheism is the antithesis of faith. We see its outcome in socialism and communism where mankind is exemplified and faith in God is disdained. Hundreds of millions have been murdered by the atheistic movements found in the Nazism of Germany, the communism of the Soviet Union, China, North Korean, Cambodia, Vietnam, Venezuela, Cuba, and other nations. Atheists believe morality is derived from the social norm but if the social norm is already inwardly and utterly corrupt and evil then your morality will be corrupted as well. This is why many in our day think that society needs to change its moral core from one influenced by faith in God to one based on faith in mankind. We see its outcome. Morality is in a constant state of flux and depends upon how one feels about their self in the moment. Paul says believers are to be influenced by the change that God has done in their very beings; their souls. Christians in charge are not to be prejudice in any way!

Conclusion:

No matter their position in life believers are to consider themselves as servants of Christ! No matter our position in life Christians are to serve enthusiastically! Christians in charge are not to be prejudice in any way!

The Wonderful World of Socialism

The Wonderful World of Socialism
By Lee Hemen
March 10, 2016

When millennials were asked what the definition of socialist was, they often thought it was something like Sweden; they are wrong. Sweden actually enjoys more freedoms than we do in some areas. They are a democratic society. Socialism is the precursor of communism. Socialist views, such as Bernie Sanders espouses, are not only dangerous, they will end up restricting many of the freedoms millennials now enjoy.

Socialism is an economic concept that advocates public ownership of all resources. The production and distribution of resources within a society are then controlled by members of that society collectively or by the government that represents that society. Goods are produced and distributed based on need rather than on market forces such as profitability, price and consumers’ purchasing power. In a socialist economy, workers contribute to society based on their ability and receive according to their needs, rather than being paid wages and using that money to purchase what they want. Private possessions are limited to personal-use items such as clothes, and there is no need or ability for individuals to accumulate wealth, so there is equality among the people.

Therefore, socialism wants big government to run everything from your birth to your death. It cries, “Power to the people!” But in reality it evolves into power to big government which dictates every aspect of your life. It takes from the hard working individual who desires a better life for themselves and their families and gives to those who leech off the governmental teat. The individual does not matter and is forced to share whatever they have garnered for themselves with others whether they like it or not.

It sounds altruistic to the young and politically innocent ears of the millennial but what is hidden behind those the likes of Bernie are horrendous. It takes away any personal initiative because why should anyone strive to do better if what they earn is taken away from them anyway? Why should one go into professional fields or gain a higher education if they know they will be taken care of by the government? Why should I save for my own retirement when the government will take care of me? The ultimate answer is that inherently lazy people won’t. This is why under Obama we now have the highest number of unemployed, underemployed, and welfare recipients in the history of this nation. (For those of you who forgot he did away with welfare reform within the first year of his administration whereby one had to find a job within a given time and get off the governmental dole. It was working and we had the lowest percentage of people on welfare and the lowest actual unemployment in history under those laws.) Your college education means little under socialism.

Socialism also takes away the rights of the individual to go and do what they want when they want to. No more rock climbing, base jumping, or unnecessary activities for you! Under the guise of such slogans as “recycle, reuse, reduce” one begins to discover that they cannot buy certain items anymore, they cannot drive their vehicles the way they used to, nor can they light or heat their homes the same way that is cost effective. In fact, one discovers that in the name of “earth first” socialism one is forced onto mass transit, restricted where they can vacation, and monitored according to the miles they drive. If you think I am wrong, think again. In fact, the individual is so stupid they cannot feed themselves or their families the way they want to because the governmental nannies will restrict what you drink or eat at school, work, or at home. (Those of you who value the new found freedoms of pot smoking are in for a shock when these folks not only come after you with egregious taxation, but how, when, and where you can smoke it. Secondhand marijuana smoke will be regulated and restricted just as tobacco is.)

But the truly scary thing is the restriction of freedom of speech socialism touts. Liberals love to be able to chant their “hey, hey, ho, ho” drivel, flaunt their proclivities, and drop any curse word at the drop of a hat, but woe be it if anyone who disagrees with their mindlessness. If you want to expose their naked dictatorial notions or their sycophantic worship to senseless made-up science they go ballistic. Freedom of expression is only for the politically correct under socialism. They will use terms as “hate”, “fear”, “afraid”, or add “phobic” to any idea they dislike; such as “His hate speech made me fearful and afraid and it sounded homophobic to me” in order to silence any opposition.

Yes the wonderful world of socialism will dictate for you what to think, what to eat, what to wear, and where to go because it will all be based on what big brother thinks is best for the whole community.

Why My Neighbor hates the Democrats…

Why My Neighbor hates the Democrats…
by Lee Hemen
September 16, 2010

Growing up we had a young man who came and worked on the farm next to us, he was from the Soviet Union. It was an exchange program, but we soon learned that they only let certain young men and women come — only those who touted Communism and who were Party Members. At first, he was braggadocios about everything. “In the USSR we already have TVs in every house, provided by the government.” “In the USSR we have bigger combines and our fruit trees grow more fruit.” “Everyone has free healthcare!” Stuff like that. However, as he lived and worked with us, things changed. He was amazed at our stores, the farm machinery, and the cars we owned. He was amazed that how most of our homes had running water, heat, and lights and indoor bathrooms. You have to remember this was in the early 60s or late 50s. My own family did not own a TV yet, but we had an old used Oldsmobile. When we got our old used black and white Sears TV, we invited him over. He was amazed. When he had to leave, he begged us to hide him. He did not want to go back. When we asked him why, he related it was horrible. He told us about the bread lines and the rationing of everything. How they had no heat in winter, no lights and no indoor plumbing, even in the huge apartment high rises in Moscow. He related how everyone hated being told what to do and think. He related how they listened to Radio Free Europe in order to find out what was really going on in the world. All the newspapers were government controlled. I was only 5 or 6 years-old at the time, but it made a huge impression on me. When he left, he hid money in compartments he made in his luggage and wrapped Pall Mall cigarettes for “bribes” for the guards when we went back through Moscow Airport so he could smuggle in what he was taking back.

My next-door neighbor came from Romania. His name is Eli. He was a Christian lay pastor there. He had to hide his Bible in sections at several of his congregation’s homes. They would tear out separate books and hide them under the floorboards. They would meet in different houses on different days. He would tape the sheets to the inside of his body to walk to another home, where he would share and then hide it so that it could not be in the same home for very long. You could not go out after a certain time at night. You never worshiped on Sundays because then the Secret Police would know. People got money for turning in their friends, neighbors and relatives to the government. Children were taught that the government was what you lived for, that there was no God, and to inform on their parents if they cheated the government. It was their patriotic duty.

He related how he worked in a factory there. One person would sweep the floor, one would carry the dustpan, and another would dump it. And still others would carry the trash while a different person would clean out the trash bin. Everyone got the same pay except those who were Party Members and higher up. Everyone had “make work” jobs because everyone was “unionized” under the government and had to pay dues and taxes back to the State. People would be sleeping, the secret police would break down your door, and your father, mother, or siblings would be taken away and never be seen again. If they were, they would be completely different people — inward, silent, and frightened all the time. Hundreds of thousands were secretly murdered by the Government. He and his wife finally got out.

They could not believe what America had to offer. He told me how he just stood in the middle of the aisle of the first grocery store he went into here and wept. He thought he had died and had gone to heaven. He could not believe that Americans actually threw out food and clothing that they would have been excited to get in Romania. He saved every extra penny he earned here to get the rest of his immediate family out and he succeeded. Now, that Romania is free he has gone back to visit. I asked him if would ever return, and he said, “NO, the Communists might come back.” He absolutely hates, and I mean hates, the Democratic Party. He asked me just last week, “Lee, don’t people realize that the Democrats are just Communists? Don’t they realize that Obama is a Communist and he will harm our freedom here? Are they that stupid? What are you taught in school?” He is a US citizen now and proud of it and so glad his children and grandchildren are as well.

As a footnote, he also related to me how shocked everyone in Romania was when America did not come to the aide of Czechoslovakia when the Soviet Union went in with tanks. Everyone had thought that the USA would stand up to Russia and then Romania would all be free after the Czechs. He related how the Russians, because Romania was an occupied country, were frightened that the USA would strike back. They knew they could not have stopped America and that the populations of the territories they had taken over, like Romania, would have revolted. The Russian Army was ready to revolt as well, having been under paid and fed for decades. They wept for weeks when we did nothing.

By the way, they had “free health care,” but no one wanted to use it because you only got sicker or died in the hospital waiting for medicine or a doctor. You had to constantly bribe governmental officials in order to get to the front of the line or better treatment.

You may naively think, “It can’t happen here.” But it is already beginning. Our children are taught to think the “party line” in schools concerning unions, what makes up a family, or concerning the environment. Obamacare is one step removed from the Soviet-style rationing. The government has shut down much of the oil industry, watches what your children eat, think, and do at school and home, has installed over 30 Presidential “Czars” that are paid huge salaries who are only accountable to him, and is quick to brand anyone who disagrees with them as phobic, stupid, or enemies. Your bank and much of the American auto industry is now owned by the Government. It was recently revealed that upwards of 45% of all households in America are getting some kind of Governmental assistance through meal or food stamps, Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid, unemployment benefits, home mortgages or college loans — which, by the way record numbers have defaulted on paying back. Add to this the number of public employees hired by all governments – Federal, State, and local – and what we have here is a failure of our system.

What can change this? You can by voting, by not getting on the governmental dole, and by not thinking someone else “owes” you something for nothing. There is never a “free lunch.” I had to laugh when my neighbor Eli asked, “Whatever happened to people being skeptical of their government? It is a good thing to never trust those in power, whoever they are — but especially Democrats.” He is right and that is why my neighbor hates the Democrats.

Understanding Neo-Communism…

by Lee Hemen
September 5, 2008

Why would it be important for today’s people to be reintroduced to Communism? The answer for today’s election cycle is extremely important because of the candidates that are running and the vastly different ideologies involved. Democrats and their philosophy of government, what it does, and how it should relate to people has much in agreement to the Communist ideal. And, when you have a candidate like Barack Obama that admits he has been heavily influenced by those Communist mentors such as radical Frank Marshall Davis, “Weatherman” William Ayers, and Marilyn “SDS” Katz, who “serves on his national finance committee,” that adhere to these ideals it becomes very important for the reader to understand what Communism is all about.

Communism is not dead. It is not some outdated belief of old bearded men in a smoked filled room. It is very much alive and well and influences many of our discussions as a nation. We find it in the Anarchist movement that tried to disrupt the RNC, environmental groups, and disguised as community groups such as ACORN. But let’s remind ourselves of its proclivities, shall we?

It is first of all an ungodly system. Why? Because at its core is the basic belief: “There is no God.” Man is the center of this ideology. Its focus is the teaching that the individual does not exist, only the community (State) does because for Communism “man” is reduced to a communal ideal. What is best for the individual, is first and foremost what is best for the State. Man exists for the State and is dependent upon the State to take care of him.

A second ideal of Communism is that of its peculiar view of materialism. The ideas of love, honor, courage, and loyalty exist only as they are defined by the Communistic society as a whole and as they benefit its paradigm. Man exists for the here and now. To benefit the cause of all. Utopia is reached when people realize their worth only as a part of the whole as it exists for the moment. Individual education therefore is seen only as it benefits the “grandeur” scheme of the State.

The third ideal of Communism is that since there really is no God, then what determines mankind is personal possession. We would call it “greed.” Communism calls it “Economic Determination.” This greed drives the individual and therefore personal possession is inherently evil because it causes individuals to desire more and more things which takes away from the ultimate benefit of the State. Everyone should “work according to their ability and give to each according to his need.” The “common” good of society. Therefore the State must regulate all possessions, all power, all authority, and leadership for the good of the whole, otherwise the individual would begin to think selfishly of themselves first. The State becomes everything and the answer to every problem. A “womb to the tomb” philosophy whereby the individual is totally dependent upon the State to take care of them.

Since Communism claims these truths for its core, it has kept literally billions of people enslaved to the State, and has slaughtered millions of people for the good of the State. In the Communist State there is no self-determination, no individuality, and no personal achievement. One lives and moves and has their being in the State. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

If these ideas sound vaguely familiar they should. They are part and parcel of the Democratic platform for the past seventy years. Social structuring of people has been practiced by Communist socialism for decades. National Socialism (Nazism) justified itself as a higher form of Communism by mixing into it core beliefs of genetics and nationalistic pride. Millions were slaughtered for the “good” of the State. Marx riled against the bourgeoisie and for the proletariat. He saw it as a continuing “struggle” or fight to be waged on all fronts: Intellectual, spiritual, material, and psychological. In the Soviet Union, again, millions were slaughtered for the “good” of the State. The same was true for China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Cuba, and any place where Communism found fertile ground. Sadly, we find this in the class envy struggle perpetrated by today’s Democratic Party. Whether it is the Communism of Hitler’s Germany, Lenin’s Russia, or today’s Maoist China, all forms of Communism have at their core the beliefs I have described above.

There is a “new” Communism, a Neo-Communism, in today’s world that is rearing its ugly head. It has disguised itself in a button-down Brooks Brothers manner as compassionate and caring for the individual and their family. But is it? In today’s Neo-Communism the State also knows best what is paramount for the individual. Since the State replaces God, and He does not exist anyway, except in an intellectual sense, something like abortion is not seen as inherently evil or as the taking of a sacred human life. Life is redefined and it becomes the individual’s “right to choose” which is ultimately for the benefit of all.

Since God is redefined and personhood is redefined, only those who are a productive part of society should be allowed to live. It is easy then to tout euthanasia as a “personal choice” to rid society of “unwanted” or “unproductive” individuals. The unborn that are an inconvenience, the elderly that are inefficient to self or culture, or those who desire to take their own lives as a “heroic” way to show that they are willing to get out of the way of future generations and not be a “burden” to the State. Remember the words of Barack Obama who said he would not want to see his own daughter’s “burdened with a mistake.” The Democratic Party has sought to redefine the struggle by restructuring personal freedoms by telling people that they should be willing to benefit all people by making personal sacrifices. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. We are all part of one grand experiment. Sounds good, doesn’t it? But it is the ugly hydra of Neo-Communism.

Education is seen as a means to an end. Communism sees education as a way whereby the State benefits with trained indoctrinated future workers. And the State knows best on how to program your children. Public Schools are touted as a means to freely educate the masses and as a glorified babysitting service. The State is more than willing to oblige. Education of the populace is seen by Communism as a means to place individuals in the best slot for the good of the State. We now have Democrats endorsing the idea of taking your children out of your home at three years old and beginning to indoctrinate and position them into the most productive niche for their future work within the State. The State will determine how many, who, what kind of jobs, and if your child gets the education for it or not. Do not believe me? In Washington State colleges like the University of Washington have already been gearing up to accept only those who have been slated for “higher” education by the public school system. Testing has already commenced to see if your child is ready for college or a trade school.

We already see that education while publically funded is controlled completely by the State. Teachers have become an extension of the State educational system because they are trained by, certified by, and  paid by the State. Since jobs must be justified within such a system, public educators no longer teach to make sure all students are trained to their highest individual potential, but rather to make sure their union jobs are secure and protected. Public Education is not “for the children” anymore.

Since everyone must benefit the State in some way, unions hold a huge sway in the Communistic ideal. Why do you think Democrats talk so much about “manufacturing jobs?” Most manufacturing jobs are unionized. Unions therefore support the State. Jobs are not based on the value of supply and demand, but on the government making sure everyone is working and that they belong to a union. This means each person can only do one specific job and someone else does a different specific one, and so on. For example there would be only certain State-picked unionized individuals who make bricks, others to carry the bricks, others to stack the bricks, and still others who would mortar the bricks, while there would be still others to make sure the bricks were drying properly, and so on. Bricks would be made whether they were needed or not because everyone must be kept busy for the good of the State and the demands of the union. And if you need to lay anyone off, you would still pay them to be laid off! However, those who worked would have to also support those who do not work. And since you live for the good of the State, the State will take from those who work and give equally to those who do not. Again, everyone should “work according to their ability and give to each according to his need.”

The State exists and will take care of you. You should enjoy giving up your personal wealth to support the State. Remember, personal materialism is evil because it takes away from the ultimate benefit of the State. The State should therefore control every area of your life. Healthcare would be given out only to those who could most benefit the State. Social engineering of how many children, what sex, and how they are educated would be a State consideration. Property rights, personal protection, individual ownership, free movement, education, recreation, and choices would be made for you. Where you shop, how you shop, and what you buy would be dictated by how it benefits the State. Do not believe me? Then why are we being told that unless we turn our heat down, wear sweaters, ride bicycles or mass transit, and make sure our tires are inflated properly we are hurting our country? Why are people forced to use cloth grocery bags instead of plastic or paper, or why are you forced to recycle? Where you smoke, when you smoke, or if you should even ever consider smoking, but just in case you do — we will tax your smokes too! You may immediately answer, “Well, it’s for the good of everybody!” My dear reader, that means it is for the good of the “State,” and you no longer have a personal choice in the matter.

Obama related that Democrats “measure progress by how many people can find a job that pays the mortgage; whether you can put a little extra money away at the end of each month so you can someday watch your child receive her college diploma.” Isn’t this the same old “everyone should work according to their ability and give to each according to his need?” Honestly, should “the needs of the (unproductive) few outweigh the needs of the (hard working) many?”

Ask yourself, “Is it the State’s job to insure I have work or an education, or is it my responsibility as a parent and mature adult?” If you want the government to find you job, help pay your mortgage, and insure your child gets a college education – where do you think the money for these things will come from? And if this is everyone’s “right” who will end up paying for those who are not productive? Obama related that it is “our moral obligation to provide every child a world-class education.” Why? He also related that he would “not settle for an America where some kids don’t have that chance. I’ll invest in early childhood education. I’ll recruit an army of new teachers, and pay them higher salaries and give them more support.” With whose money? Obama wants your tiny preschooler to publically program. This is basically a promise to the State teachers unions to keep the status quo and to expand their power base!

Obama also related that he would “go through the federal budget, line by line, eliminating programs that no longer work and making the ones we do need work better and cost less,” but has any politician ever done this? Especially a Democrat? Government has only expanded and taxes have gone up under Democrats. Using class envy may make you feel better for now, but in the end you will pay for the tax in some way. The redistribution of wealth by government does not work. It is Communism and it has failed.

Read the two speeches from both candidates like I did. Why? Words mean things. As you read them look to see which one speaks to the heart of America that has made this a great nation. Notice which speaks to capitalism or communism. Personal freedom or governmental control. Yep, it is important to understand Communism in our day and age.

China, Communism All Dressed Up In Olympic Garb

by Lee Hemen
August 10, 2008

As we independent and freedom loving Americans stare into our TV sets, while eating our potato chips, drinking Coca-Cola, and are mesmerized by the flickering images of synchronized drumming, huge fireworks displays, and underage athletes whipping their frail little bodies across a gymnasium floor; we should not forget what Communist China has brought to the world to date. Namely the silence, oppression, and systematic murder and torture of literally millions of people. Do not forget that this nation whereby the select few enjoy prosperity, it is on the backs of literally hundreds of millions of impoverished peasants living in substandard conditions in a nation that does not care about human life, the environment, or anything other than the State and lining its pockets. Much of the Olympic venue buildings were built over the torn down homes of peasants who were forced off their property at the threat of bulldozer blades backed by guns. They were given little or nothing in return because all property belongs to the Chinese State. This should be a sobering word of warning for those of you who are considering voting Democrat in November. Much of the Democratic platform since the 1970s has as its basis these same communistic socialist foundations.

NBC tried to pull off a puff piece on the history of acrobatics in China, but they failed to let you know the extent that China takes its children at extremely young ages and programs them into robotic automations that have to do every dive, jump, and program with perfection. Failure is not an option. This is not a volunteer system. However, what is more disturbing is the fact of the total disregard for China’s horrendous history. China is not the diverse-driven nation, proud of its myriad heritage that it wants the world to blindly see with these Olympics. It openly oppresses those who do not strictly conform to the party line, desiring its people to be unified in thought and motivation. The State is everything and you as an individual are nothing. This includes any religious or ethnic group that does not conform to the Communistic ideal. Slave labor camps have claimed tens of millions of lives. Literally millions of landlords, better-off peasants, dissidents, teachers, professors, students, officials, professionals, former civil servants, and other “counter-revolutionaries” were executed or simply disappeared. Numerical estimates are difficult to make because China does not want to discuss its true history, but probably add up to about 10-15 million. A small percentage of its billions, but significant and sobering in its scope.

While the focus has been on China’s air pollution, no one has mentioned exactly why it is so horrendous. China has little to no pollution controls and ignores and does not enforce the few it does have. This is one of many reasons why America should never sign or agree to the Kyoto Accords. China pollutes at will its rivers, oceans, land, and air. Its autos have no pollution control devices and do not have to conform to any air quality standards. Its factories belch out hardcore toxins and its cities dump sewage at will. It views it citizenry in the same fashion as lab rats to experiment on at will for the good of the Chinese elite. While China is enjoying a new found prosperity, it is only found by a few while the majority of its population suffers in peasant poverty. China’s new ruling class enjoys is riches at the whim of its ruling bosses and on the shoulders of its poor. It is one step away from being another gangster-driven Russia and hides its dirty dealings through high-end bribery, Chinese efficiency, and the hard rule of its party bosses. While liberal ignoramuses make much of Nike or Wal-Mart factories abusing Chinese citizens, they fail to relate that it is with the wholehearted endorsement of a corrupt Communist government. This is why China sees no wrong in sending the world its lead-laden toys or toxic foods. The needs of the few outweigh the murders of the many.

I found it very interesting how while China was desperately wanting to show the world a new face to Communism, Russia has shown its true nature during these “peaceful” Olympic games by “thuging” its way back into Georgia. Anyone notice how silent China has been? Make no mistake under its neo-rich garb, China is still Communist and holds a tight reign on its people. Never be excited about exchanging the truth for a lie no matter how well it tries to dress itself up to the rest of the world. China is a oppressive society that does not like to be questioned or held accountable for its true actions. These Olympics will do nothing for the billions of people held under the harsh hand of Communist China except to appease the masses for a while as their athletes win gold.
