Disaster Waiting In the Wings

Disaster Waiting In the Wings

The disaster that is waiting in the wings of our Nation could be unprecedented. The EPA and FEMA could become two of the most important and also two of the largest scapegoats in our political history. We have a Congress and Presidency that has ill prepared our Nation to face the climatic agricultural catastrophe that is looming on the horizon.

When all the ice and snow of this extremely cold winter begins to melt, flooding in the Midwest, Mississippi valleys, and throughout the East will be huge. Cities like New Orleans could be swept away.

The ground will not be ready in many of the wheat and Corn Belt states, crops will not be planted as soon as they will need to be. Add to this the drought that has hit California and the EPA’s unwillingness to soften its blow. Food prices could skyrocket and people could go hungry. California feeds most of the world. Ethanol, feed corn, wheat, and vegetable crops will all be affected. And, what if this cold lasts another year or perhaps a decade as some are now predicting due to the decrease in sun spot activity?

The importance of a National energy policy that helps to develop our nation’s oil, natural gas, and nuclear energy resources are extremely important. However, instead of an EPA that balances the nation’s security as well as its environment, we have an agency that is full tilt into political environmentalism.

Tax funding that FEMA, Army Corp of Engineers and others will need when the spring floods hit has been frittered away to the boondoggle of Obamacare. Americans only have a given amount of personal wealth that the government can unendingly pillage.
