Could the Obama Administration be Blocking Gulf Clean-up Efforts Intentionally?
by Floyd and Mary Beth Brown

At first blush this sounds like an outlandish question with a conspiratorial twist. The corollary question goes like this: Is the Obama administration intentionally scaling back clean-up efforts in the Gulf in an attempt to maximize the damage so Democrats in Congress will have an excuse to take effective control over yet another major sector of our economy and impose crippling and draconian new taxes on the American people?

We first learned of this controversy reading Sher Zieve who wrote in the Canada Free Press: “Obama is doing the bare minimum so that destruction will be at an all-time maximum — in order to shove his Cap and Trade bill (which will complete our destruction) down our throats.”

Zieve added: “The BP oil disaster was custom-made for The Obama. The effective oil-skimmer systems utilized by the Saudis and others would work to greatly minimize the damage being caused to the US Gulf Coast. But, The Obama continues to drag his heels as States and lives are destroyed.”

Fox News reported that when the Dutch government offered to help us clean up the oil spewing from the leaking BP oil rig, Obama initially turned them down cold. Norwegian and Dutch firms offered to help us too, but Obama said no.

It is reputed that the Roman Emperor Nero played his fiddle while Rome burnt to the ground so he could falsely blame the disaster on Christians and thereby rationalize a campaign of persecution against them.

Is it possible that Barack Hussein Obama and statists on Capitol Hill are using this crisis as an excuse to drive prices up at the pump, drive your utility bills through the roof, regulate your behavior and diminish your standard of living in this already queasy economy?

This much is certain — in spite of what Obama told the American people during his Oval Office address to the nation, he did not adequately respond to this crisis. The administration has clearly failed in terms of organization and the use of resources available to the federal government.

Moreover, it’s now indisputable that statists on Capitol Hill are attempting to exploit this disaster to push so-called cap and trade legislation. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell recently revealed: “At the same time as Americans wonder when this gusher will ever be plugged, we hear word that the administration and my good friend the majority leader want to piggy back their controversial new national energy tax — also known as cap and trade — to an oil spill response bill that could and should be an opportunity for true bipartisan cooperation. So here again, we see the administration using a crisis, in this case the disaster in the gulf, as an opportunity to muscle through Congress another deeply unpopular bill that has profound implications for small business and struggling households.”

But why let something as trivial as the truth get in the way when it comes to pushing an extreme “green” agenda? Liberals like Barack Obama made this problem worse so they could “solve” the problem and, as we’ve come to expect, they plan to “solve” the problem by making it worse.

So, true to form, Obama declared a moratorium on off-shore drilling and to make matters worse, Obama wants to institute a massive new energy tax, masquerading as sound energy policy (so-called cap and trade), that will dramatically raise the cost of just about everything you produce or consume, deprive you of income, control your behavior and repress your liberties.

Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, once said that you should never let a good crisis go to waste and Barack Obama and Democrats on Capitol Hill aren’t about to let this crisis go to waste. He may pontificate about holding BP to account but Obama and his leftist cronies fully intend to exploit this crisis to sneak liberty-stealing cap and trade legislation past the American people.

  1. The fault lies within BP and years of deregulation by the Republicans. If this massive environmental tragedy doesn’t change the minds of the “drill baby drill,” nothing will.

    • I agree that BP is culpable as well, however, Congress, which has been controlled by Democrats oversees the Bureau of Mines which oversees the oil drilling. Obama’s and the Democrat’s own administrators gave BP an award for environmental friendliness and their inspectors failed to inspect the rig. If any Republican President had gone and played golf several times before visiting the Gulf region, or had not even giving any kind of input, and had not spoken with the CEO of BP for 57 days, which Obama is guilty of, environmentalists and the mainstream media would be going ballistic and calling for his resignation.

The fact is NO ONE foresaw this kind of thing occurring. There are over 600 deep water oil rigs in the Gulf, more if you count those of other nations that are even farther out. This is the first incident of its kind ever in over 40 years of deep water drilling. I am shocked with the Obama Administration’s handling of the crisis and BP not having any contingency plans for such a scenario. Should BP pay? Absolutely! Should Obama resign as incompetent? YES! At the very least he should clean house of those he thought were in charge that he appointed to oversee Congress’ mess in the Bureau of Mines. When will these governmental cronies be called before a Senate hearing? (Don’t hold your breath.) And, please, blaming Bush is getting old, tired, and just plain stupid.

The President’s speech was abominable and without effect. It showed plainly that he is not the man to be our Nation’s leader during a time like this. Can you imagine if he were leading us during 9-11 or something like Pearl Harbor? Egad, I shudder to think of his complete inadequacy displayed at times like those! They may not want any crisis to go to waste, but they are raising the ire of the American people with their utter ineptitude in the bumbling way they are handling this one. The only explanation that makes any sense is they have ulterior motives such as Cap and Trade.

  3. I appreciate your reply and am not endorsing Obama’s immediate reaction to the Gulf Coast disaster or many of his policies. At least he did get a 20 billion dollar guarantee for those affected in the region.

Regarding the rest of your response, we’ll have to agree to disagree. I’m very capable of looking at the bigger picture and calling out the Dems when they’re wrong yet you seem unwilling to criticize your own party when necessary. Personally, I don’t understand that way of thinking and find meaningful dialogue impossible.

    • Interesting. So, if someone disagrees with you, you do not think it is “meaningful dialogue”? I never wrote that I supported the Republican’s response. What I do not agree with is the blame Bush scenario we often hear from liberals. He has become the boogieman of their childhood fears. It was like when Clinton was being blamed for everything by the Republicans. While he was and is a slime ball, because of the way he has disregarded his marriage, he did work with Republicans. Obama does not.

In fact, I have never heard a President that is so quick to be defensive when questioned or ridiculed for his poor judgment or oratory skills. Even Nixon kept his thoughts to himself and his staff. Not Obama. He is the most unprofessional President we have ever had. He does not understand Presidential protocol, etiquette, nor his powers as President under the Constitution.

By the way, I have since discovered I was wrong in the number of offshore deep well oil rigs in the Gulf. Instead of over 600, there are over 3,800! No matter what anyone wants you to believe, deregulation had nothing to do with this current crisis. In fact, if anything it was the extreme EPA regulations that have forced us to drill in deep water because environmentalists have pushed us offshore where it is far more dangerous and catastrophic when a well leaks or is blown. Every oil engineer I know has said that if that well had been in the shallows or onshore, it would have been stopped within a day. When you are trying to plug a gusher of that magnitude, two miles below the surface, you are working with extreme pressures. You can’t just put a cork in it, like Obama would have us believe.

And, if you are going to say that it was “years of deregulation by the Republicans,” how and what particular deregulation made that well blow up? It was because of poor inspections done by the Bureau of Mines that is overseen by Congress. Typical Governmental garbage.

  4. I’m going to keep this civil but I suggest you reread my response. People can disagree with me and I’ll still have a dialogue but not if they are close minded and only parrot right wing talking points.

I can only assume you feel the same disgust with ALL politicians that cheat on their spouses, not just Clinton. You are obviously upset over the “bash Bush” crowd all the while displaying an amazing amount of disgust with Obama and “liberals.” It’s the hypocrisy that drives me crazy.

Politicians just love this divide and conquer technique which has been used since recorded history.

    Wishing you the best.

    • I am disgusted with Obama because of his self-perceived moral superiority. He lied to the voters when he said he would not raise taxes, he has and will even on the “middle class,” in order to pay for healthcare, SEIU payoffs, and all of the billions in bailouts. He lied when he said unemployment would not ever go over 8% during his Administration. He lied when he said he would end the war(s) in Afghanistan and Iraq. He lied about healthcare paying for itself. (If you believe that whopper, I have some swampland for sale…) He lied about his religious views and church attendance. He lied about his status with his friends Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright, and such. He lied about his support for public schools and then sent his daughters to the most prestigious and costly private school in the Nation, but he did away with Washington DC parent’s right to choose to send their kids to alternative schools or to use public funds for private schooling. What a prez!

I am tired of the liberal mainstream media that treated everything Bush did as horrible, who can’t seem to move on, and attacked Bush every time he played golf, when Obama has played golf 39 times since taking office and gone on at least nine vacations! He even had the audacity to play golf three times before meeting with BP’s CEO, which took him 57 days! (Bush played only 28 times in eight years in office.) I am disgusted that the same media who screamed about Bush’s Air National Guard Service is deaf, mute, and blind to Obama not turning over public school records, or those of his years at Harvard, his personal writings, nor have they answered why his Social Security Card was issued from a State he never lived or worked in. While I do believe Obama is an American citizen, I am not a “Birther,” I am troubled that this Administration works so hard and pays literally millions of dollars to lawyers in order to keep Obama’s past secret. It does not make any sense nor does it look good. It only gives credence to wackos. (Even Bush released all of his records.)

And, I am really tired of all Obama all the time on every TV channel, including Fox. Every time you turn on the TV you have to put up with the media hyperventilating all over him. (I’m not sorry that I have never felt any tingle go up my leg because of the big “O” — only nausea.) Obama has to have an opinion on everything! He needs to just shut up sometimes and be Presidential.

I am tired of the same old liberal talking points being used, over and over, yet when Obama does something incredibly stupid, no one holds him accountable. Jimmy Carter must be doing a little dance now that he is no longer seen as the most inept and moronic President in modern times. (Gee, I guess there is something good that Obama has done after all!)

I am a proud and vocal outspoken conservative, and I believe that people who claim to be moderates, as Obama did, are lying.
