Do you drive away others with your chains?

I am reminded of an old Monty Python skit where the Knights of the Round Table on their quest for the Holy Grail meet a fierce little white rabbit. They think it will be easily killed but it turns out to be quite a fighter and these “bold” knights run away as fast as they can. This is kind of like how some Christians portray themselves to their fellow believers and the world. Kind of like harmless little bunnies, yet when folks get to know them, they discover just how mean and ornery this sweet little “holy hand grenade” of a Christian truly is and all they want to do is “run away, run away!”

You Will be Begging for Change!

A lot of very ignorant people voted in Democrats to control both the State and Federal Governments and future generations will pay and pay for it. Obama wants to increase spending to between $3.5 trillion and $4 trillion for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1. And they still have not solved the trillion dollar Social Security problem! Soon, you will be begging for change.

Oh those chains, those chains!

What a difference between even these guards and many who claim Christ in our day and age! Just recently I counseled a believer about their lifestyle and they are having a hard time seeing “the justice” of God in that they think they are unjustly suffering at the hands of God because of it! It just confirmed to me that a lot of those who claim faith in Christ, do so as long as it is about them. We live in a “me first” society.

Excellent GOP Response to Obama Address by Gov. Bobby Jindal

Who amongst us would ask our children for a loan so we could spend money we do not have on things we do — we do not need? That is precisely what the Democrats in Congress just did. It’s irresponsible. And it’s no way to strengthen our economy, create jobs, or build a prosperous future for our children.

A Pastor’s Prayer – Philippians 1:9-11

What is prayer for you? Is it a way to gain the attention of God? A means to gripe about your latest ache or pain? Perhaps a means of simple meditation or conversation with the Lord? In the letters of Paul we discover that Paul prayed a lot. He prayed for the churches he helped establish, he prayed for those he had won to Christ, he prayed for the leadership of the church in Jerusalem, and he prayed for the lost to come to Christ as well. But one of the things Paul mentions specifically and generally over and over is that he prayed that his fellow Christians would grow in their knowledge of God. He prayed this way because at his core, Paul was a pastor and he had a pastor’s heart.

Are You Filled?

Have you ever been “stuffed as a muffin”? You know what I mean. After a birthday party, Thanksgiving, or a fine Christmas feast? Some of us have I suspect. To be full of great food can be a very satisfying thing. A good meal brings happiness and a sense of satisfaction. Yet, Jesus told His disciples, “Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.” (Luke 6:21) Of course He was speaking of those who hunger and thirst after righteousness. In fact, we discover that God’s people are to be “filled” with the satisfaction of Godly things. We are to “seek first” His “kingdom and righteousness,” knowing that we will be truly satisfied if we do.

The Grim Reaper that’s Obama!

While the Obama administration uses our Nation’s economy as a social experiment, we find that those who actually know how to run and invest in business that makes jobs for Americans have already voted with their pocketbooks. The Stock Market has taken the worst dive in the history of the nation. This has occurred after Obama’s economic stimulus plan and after every time he makes a major speech on the economy. He is the quintessential albatross of economic development.

Are You Pure and Blameless? – Today’s Thoughts…

Over the years, as a Pastor, I have been surprised at the fairly shallow reasoning folks use to excuse their sinful lives. Especially Christians. Now I know no one is perfect, including Christians – contrary to the faulty thinking of many – until they see Jesus face-to-face, but believers are to be striving to live “pure and blameless”’ lives until Jesus comes back or they are called home. In fact, this is one of the reasons so many in the world struggle with Christianity because they simply do not see Christians living this kind of lifestyle.

Abound More in Knowledge! – Philippians 1:9

Paul prayed a lot, there is no denying it. He prayed for the churches he helped establish, he prayed for those he had won to Christ, he prayed for the leadership of the church in Jerusalem, and he prayed for the lost to come to Christ as well. But one of the things Paul mentions specifically and generally over and over is that he prayed that others would grow in their knowledge of God.
